Rocket Attacks in Israel

12 May 2023

On Tuesday, Israel launched operation Shield and Arrow with a surprise attack in the Gaza Strip, targeting three high-level Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leaders. The operation came days after Gazan terrorists led by PIJ fired rockets at Israel, terrorising its citizens, and continued planning for brutal terrorist attacks throughout the country.

As of Friday over 800 rockets have been fired into Israel reaching as far as Tel Aviv, damaging homes, killing one person in the southern town of Rehovot and injuring several others.

Keren Hayesod-UIA is in direct contact with the Israeli Government and agencies on the ground - including our key partner The Jewish Agency for Israel.  Many Keren Hayesod-UIA projects are located in the south of Israel.

Shelters and safe rooms in our absorption centres and Amigour housing facilities have been opened, and staff is working around the clock to help everyone get to safety as needed.

Respite activities will be provided outside the south for Olim in the coming days.

We all hope that a ceasefire will come into effect soon and stand united with the People of Israel.
